This maps most noticeable feature is the collection of interconnected and individual loughs that can be found here. These are most noticeable from the Upper Loch Erne in the North, to Lough Oughter in the South.

The River Erne flows through many of these loughs, making it hard to distinguish at times. The Annalee River, the River Blackwater and the Woodford River also connect a series of loughs throughout the map.

Another feature of this map is the mountains to the North east. Here the Cuilcagh Mountains rest, while the Slieve Rushen stands alone further East. The Co. Cavan/Fermanagh border runs across this mountain.

Killykeen Forest Park lies to the West of Cavan Town, at Lough Oughter. The forest park and lake system combine to provide a picturesque location that is ideal for walks, picnics, swimming and even a 3 kilometre family cycle trail.

The Cuilcagh Way/ Ulster Way passes over the Cuilcagh Mountains allowing the mountain and its fantastic views to be truly enjoyed.

The Kingfisher Cycle Route spans the entire horizontal length of the map, entering the primary towns of Ballinamore, Ballyconnell, Belturbet and Redhills on its journey.
